If you are planning to move from ISL to HEIMDAL, you have a few simple steps to go through to get the ISL Light application uninstalled and the Remote Desktop application running on the endpoints in your environment.
1. Uninstalling the ISL Light application with 3rd Party Patch Management
2. Uninstalling the ISL Light application with a batch script
3. Enabling Remote Desktop
UNINSTALLING THE ISL LIGHT application with 3RD PARTY PATCH MANAGEMENT
To uninstall the ISL Light application, you can use the Applications Blocklist feature in HEIMDAL's 3rd Party Patch Management product (requires you to have the Patch & Asset license). Applications Blocklist can uninstall any specified applications (as long it supports silent/quiet uninstall). To configure the uninstall of the ISL Light application, you need to access the HEIMDAL Dashboard -> Endpoint Settings -> Your Group Policy -> Patch & Assets tab -> 3rd Party Patch Management and scroll to the bottom of the page. In the Applications Blocklist you need to add ISL Light and enable the Starts with tickbox.
Next, you need to press the Update GP button. The HEIMDAL Agent will look for any application named ISL Light and it will try to uninstall it (every time a Group Policy check is being performed).
UNINSTALLING THE ISL LIGHT application with a batch script
To uninstall the ISL Light application, you can also use the attached batch script (find it at the bottom of this article) to deploy it to the computers where you would like the application to be removed. The script runs the silent uninstall command line and uninstalls to.
ENABLING REMOTE DESKTOP
Now, you can enable Remote Desktop. To do so, access the Endpoint Settings -> Your Group Policy -> Remote Desktop -> Remote Desktop and tick the Remote Desktop tickbox. Once you configure the General Settings or add a Supporter, you can press the Update GP button.
The HEIMDAL Agent will install the Heimdal RD Agent on the next Group Policy check and you should be able to remote onto the endpoint using any of the three methods an operator can connect to a remote device.
